Ballyhaunis running again in November

Did anyone take any notice of tip to back Ballyhaunis at Listowel earlier this year ? It won.
The horse is named after Ballyhaunis because the owner’s mother came from the town.
It is running twice in November - in Thurles on the 18th and Fairyhouse - in a big race on the 28th.

Details Here

Keep an eye out for Ballyhaunis

Mobile Speed Cameras in County Mayo

Here is a map showing the possible locations of speed cameras in County Mayo.
The roads that will be monitored by the GoSafe camera vans are marked in red.
It looks like Kiltimagh will be seeing speed camera vans in the future - as well as roads around Ballina, Westport and Castlebar.

Will Ballyhaunis beat Current Resession ?

A Horse called Ballyhaunis is running in the 5.40 at Listowel tomorrow (Fri 17th Sept 2010) - and maybe the people of Ballyhaunis should be backing their namesake to win. It is the odds on favourite in the betting - but can Ballyhaunis win?
One of it’s competitors in the race is a horse called Current Resession (no I haven’t spelt it wrong)

Tipsters have a few good things to say about Ballyhaunis ….

Totesport say “Ballyhaunis was a Maiden winner on the Flat at the Curragh two seasons ago. ran moderately on his only hurdles start last season, but definitely the one to beat here following his third behind Admiral Barry and Mount Helicon in the big amateur handicap at Galway.”

Racing Post says “This should be fairly straightforward for BALLYHAUNIS who may be given most to do by Current Resession”

“At The Races” also has good things to say about Ballyhaunis who is ridden by Ruby Walsh

“BALLYHAUNIS is fancied to step up on a satisfactory debut over hurdles at Thurles in November last year. With a couple of fine efforts on the Flat already this season, he gives the impression that he has improved from four to five years and Willie Mullins is sure to have done plenty of schooling work with this son of Daylami. Like the selection, Gala Dancer is entitled to have learnt a great deal from his first hurdling experience at Galway last month and he should be involved, while Current Resession produced two solid efforts at the start of the year and demands respect following a break.”

If Ballyhaunis can beat Current Recession and of course the other 17 horses - then the bookies in Ballyhaunis might be in trouble.
Then again …… the bookies always seem to win

I think I’ll have a few Euro on it just for the craic!!

What Really Matters?

WHAT WILL MATTER

by Michael Josephson

I found this here and thought is was worth sharing.

Ready or not, some day it will all come to an end.
There will be no more sunrises, no minutes, hours or days.
All the things you collected, whether treasured or forgotten, will pass to someone else.
Your wealth, fame and temporal power will shrivel to irrelevance.
It will not matter what you owned or what you were owed.
Your grudges, resentments, frustrations and jealousies will finally disappear.
So too, your hopes, ambitions, plans and to-do lists will expire.
The wins and losses that once seemed so important will fade away.
It won’t matter where you came from or what side of the tracks you lived on at the end.
It won’t matter whether you were beautiful or brilliant.
Even your gender and skin color will be irrelevant.
So what will matter? How will the value of your days be measured?
What will matter is not what you bought but what you built,
not what you got but what you gave.
What will matter is not your success but your significance.
What will matter is not what you learned but what you taught.
What will matter is every act of integrity, compassion, courage or sacrifice that enriched,
empowered or encouraged others to emulate your example.
What will matter is not your competence but your character.
What will matter is not how many people you knew,
but how many will feel a lasting loss when you’re gone.
What will matter is not your memories but the memories of those who loved you.
What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom and for what.
Living a life that matters doesn’t happen by accident.
It’s not a matter of circumstance but of choice.
Choose to live a life that matters.

Drivers who double park in town : make sure you put your hazard lights on when double parking . That way - other drivers sitting in the queue you cause will realise it is an emergency and not just assume that you are just another lazy fat slob who can’t be bothered to walk a few yards to Supermacs .

Bike Repair Shop Owners: it might help you get more customers if you didn’t have the same crappy old bikes outside your shop for 5 years and maybe cleaned your windows now and again.

Hardware Shop Owners : It helps if you actually have staff in the shop available to serve customers. Putting prices on the goods would also be a good idea as would tidying up the shop. Also - try opening at lunchtime - you might end up getting some customers.

Top Tips for Today

After a great response to our Energy Saving tips last week - we have another set of top tips for our readers today. Pass them on to your friends if you have any. (I don’t)

Teenage boys : - Stop your trousers from falling halfway down your arse by wearing a strip of perforated leather with a buckle around your waist.

RYANAIR passengers. These days they do let ALL the passengers off the planes, thus eliminating the need to all clamber to the front the very second the aircraft lands.

BMIBABY passengers - you have seat numbers allocated - so there is no need to form a massive queue at the boarding gate like a load of dumb sheep.

BANANA LOVERS. Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in blac felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest, to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning.

TAXI DRIVERS. Why noy just remove the bulbs from your indicators in case you forget what you do for a living and inadvertantly signal when turning.

PUBLICANS. Save thousands of Euros on hugely inflated monthly rates for Sky Sports by simply painting a small white pint glass with Tippex in the bottom right-hand corner of your big TV screen.
