From Sat August 1st 2009 there is going to be a “strike” by some pharmacists in Ireland over payment arrangements from with HSE. Not all pharmacyies are involved - but it looks like the two in Ballyhaunis are withdrawing services . People on Medical Cards or those getting drugs under the Drugs Payment Scheme or Long Term Ilness Scheme will not be able to get their prescriptions filled without paying the full amount for the medicines.
According to the HSE website - Ballyhaunis residents will have to travel to pharmacies in Castlerea or Claremorris.
